Novel Technique for Measuring Fungal Function in Dust

The study used an experimental, laboratory-based design to develop and apply a novel method for measuring functional fungal activity in environmental dust to better characterize asthma-relevant mold exposure. Measuring functional fungal activity provides additional, biologically relevant information beyond traditional exposure metrics. Overall, this approach may improve understanding of how mold exposures contribute to asthma risk and help refine environmental assessment strategies.
