GLP-1 Receptor Agonists Reduce Asthma Exacerbations In Obese Type 2 Diabetics

This study used a retrospective cohort design to evaluate whether glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist use is associated with asthma exacerbation risk in patients with type 2 diabetes. GLP-1 receptor agonist use was associated with a significantly lower risk of asthma exacerbations, suggesting a protective effect on respiratory outcomes. These findings support a potential added benefit of these medications beyond glycemic control.
