Rates of Knee Replacement and Revision Surgery Up Sharply Over the Last 20 Years in the Medicare Population
The JAMA Report
Twenty years ago knee replacement surgery was a relatively new procedure in the United States. Now, it’s estimated that about 600,000 people have their knee replaced and about 30,000 to 60,000 more undergo revision on their implant every year. A new study examined the trends in these common procedures among Medicare recipients over the last 20 years. Catherine Dolf has more in this week’s JAMA Report.
