Now surgical treatment of dysthyroid orbitopathy can be done in the outpatient setting allowing for faster recovery times.

Summary:
Orbital decompression surgery for thyroid eye disease is traditionally performed as unilateral surgery, however newer techniques now allow for bilateral surgery to be done in an outpatient setting, allowing for faster recovery times.
