Recent advances in digital surveillance for melanoma monitoring and treatment have been encouraging to Tracey Liebman, MD. Dermoscopic monitoring through sequential digital dermoscopy imaging can be used to determine whether a biopsy should be performed. If there are any short-term changes in the dermoscopic close-up image, Dr. Liebman believes that taking a biopsy is prudent as it may potentially help in diagnosing melanoma at a very early stage.
