Join us for our Daily Meeting Highlights – AACE 2011 Conference – Day 4.

Day 4 of the meeting featured presentations about the endocrinology of aging, the dilemma of whether to treat subclinical hypothyroidism, and which diabetic patients need to be on statin therapy.

One of the more interesting papers presented at the conference described the importance of the personal health record in diabetes management for minority populations.

Dr. Suliman and colleagues examined the electronic medical records of 134 patients who had their personal health record followed. These patients were compared to those who had elected not to be followed. The results showed a decrease in the HBA1C in the monitored patients. The authors said this study highlight that personal health records and other technologies need to be explored to improve self-care in minority populations with diabetes.
