The painstaking work of students at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) could one day cure malaria.

UCSD students help global treatment efforts by prepping large numbers of dead mosquitoes to receive prospective anti-malarial compounds. The UCSD labs have tested approximately 500,000 such compounds to date. Despite being eliminated from the United States and other developed countries, malaria still kills hundreds of thousands of people each year, mainly in Africa.
