A team of researchers at Harvard’s Wyss Institute have developed a new method of fabricating soft materials. Using a single sheet of elastic silicone, they built the smallest-to-date spider-like robot. The robot’s ability to perform complex movement represents a major advance in the field of flexible micro-robotics. Designed to operate in hard-to-reach areas, potentially even inside the human body, these robots may eventually be used in endoscopies and microsurgeries.
