The Doctor’s Channel covered SHM 2010 in Washington, D.C., the annual meeting for the Society of Hospital Medicine. The Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) consists of 11,194 members and is the national organization for hospitalists which is leading the transformation and improvement of care for the hospitalized patient through innovation, collaboration and action.

In this video, Dr. Banks interviews Andrew Karson, MD, MPH who is the Associate Section Director of the Clinical Decision Support Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Karson discusses the use of technology to better synthesize information to reduce the risk of an adverse drug event depending on patient’s pre-hospital admittance medication habits.
