There is also data about the misuse of ADHD medications. Long-acting medications for ADHD are FDA – approved and safer to use in these patients.

Summary:
Adult ADHD medications are more likely to be abused when the medication is short-acting, if the patient has a co-morbid psychiatric illness, or if the person is younger and attending a competitive university.
