I Have a Rare Kidney Disease | IgA Nephropathy
April 8, 2025 • Kidney Disease Content Hub
After years of unexplained blood in her urine and a recent spike in protein levels during routine labs, this speaker was ultimately diagnosed with IgA nephropathy following extensive testing and a kidney biopsy. Though currently in early-stage disease with normal kidney function, she reflects on the emotional impact of a lifelong diagnosis and the fear of future progression. She’s now on low-dose blood pressure medication to reduce proteinuria and is adjusting to the physical and emotional shifts. By sharing her experience, she encourages others to get annual labs, advocate for their health, and catch conditions like IgA nephropathy as early as possible.
