Shiv Gaglani and Ryan Haynes, Co-Founders of Osmosis
The Osmosis platform utilizes both cognitive techniques and thoughtful user experience design in its forward-thinking application for medical students. The goal of the app is to help users absorb medical information more efficiently. The platform was named after the process of osmosis to highlight the fact that students can learn just as much from each other as they can from teachers and textbooks.
Osmosis employs an intelligent recommendation system in conjunction with powerful search and analytics engines in order to provide users with the most relevant information at the right times. These tools are extremely useful when coupled with the question banks and study materials Osmosis supplies to its users. Students can track their performance and receive links to additional material germane to their academic needs.
Osmosis has already attracted 18,000 users by attempting to combine the requirements of multiple curricula they face when attending medical school. Balancing preparation for both medical school and board certification exams with the need to stay up-to-date on clinical research and medical news can be very difficult. Osmosis hopes to mitigate these demands.
