In an interview conducted at the 2025 European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation Annual Meeting, Deepti Radia, MBBS, BSc, MRCPI, FRCPath, MSc Med Ed, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, discusses the use of allogeneic stem cell transplantation for the treatment of advanced systemic mastocytosis. According to Dr Radia, current treatment options, including tyrosine kinase inhibitors, can achieve deep responses for systemic mastocytosis. However, the presence of an associated hematological neoplasm leads to a more complicated decision-making process for proceeding with allogeneic stem cell transplant. Therefore, it is crucial to carefully consider each patient’s overall risk profile when deciding on allogeneic stem cell transplant.
