Millions of people spend the duration of their work day sitting in front of a computer, but few people understand the health detriments that extensive sitting causes. When we sit, the electrical activity in the muscles drops, causing the number of calories we burn to drop to just one per minute, in addition to a decrease in artery dilation, blood flow and insulin. It is estimated that if everyone sat for no more than three hours per day, life expectancy would increase by two years.
