Ralph Merkel, MD, Co-founder, Nanofactory Collaboration, talks about medical nanotechnology using the example of the respirocyte. This theoretical artificial red blood cell, with 100 times the oxygen carrying capacity of a human RBC, would deliver oxygen to the brain and organs even when the circulatory system is compromised. Dr. Merkel also suggests other theoretical applications, including artificial white blood cells. Videotaped at FutureMed, in May, 2011, at Singularity University.
