Here, the study by Eberhard et al, entitled, “Predictors of unacceptable pain with and without low inflammation over 5 years in early rheumatoid arthritis-an inception cohort study,” is summarized. This study evaluated pain in 232 patients with rheumatoid arthritis over 5 years. Over one-third of patients had unacceptable pain up to 5 years of diagnosis; of these patients, two-thirds had low levels of inflammatory activity.
