Mark Ballow, MD, of the University of South Florida, and Jolan Walter, MD, PhD, of the University of South Florida and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, discuss COVID-19 and treatment options at the 2021 Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) Forum. Emerging and currently available vaccines for COVID-19 are discussed along with recommendations for patients with primary immunodeficiency. Studies are underway to investigate the presence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and their ability to neutralize virus, which may be important for predicting which patients that may have a satisfactory response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccines.
