Two Surgeries that May Help Correct a Common Female Condition Have Similar Outcomes

Aging, natural childbirth and obesity can weaken the pelvic muscles in many women. A common problem, this can cause the vagina or the uterus to prolapse, or begin to sink or fall. A new study compared two common surgeries used to correct the problem and evaluated if pelvic muscle strengthening exercises done before and after the surgeries would help improve outcomes.
