Dr. Shafi Ahmed and his surgical team have performed the world’s first live-broadcast of a surgery filmed in 360-degree virtual reality. The surgery took place at the Royal London Hospital on April 14, 2016 with medical students and spectators tuning in from across the world. Dr. Ahmed and his colleagues believe this could be a beneficial and cost-effective method of training future surgeons and collaborating with other doctors around the globe.
