Want to Live Longer? Try the Mediterranean Diet

According to CNN Health and studies from Harvard Medical School the Mediterranean diet may help lead to a longer life. A Mediterranean diet consists primarily of vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, peas, unrefined grains, olive oil and fish, and has been shown to lower the risk for cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in American adults. For the study, researchers looked at 4,676 healthy women, finding that women who adhered to a Mediterranean diet had longer telomeres, which have been associated with a longer lifespan.
