In 2009, Connecticut passed a law requiring all physicians to explain to “patients with dense breasts that mammograms may not be effective and that they should ask about other screening tests, such as ultrasounds and MRI scans.“ Barron Lerner, MD, discusses the drawbacks of this policy as well as some of the harms of reforming health policy based on health activists.
