12 hours. 26 actors. 2 ferry boat rides. 2 meals. And 900 pages of a novel that has been called “a milestone” in modern literary tradition. These are just some of the elements that comprise European theatrical extraordinaire Peter Stein’s radical adaptation of Dostoevsky’s, “Demons.”

The production is Titanic in scale. Part of the Lincoln Center Festival, the whole epic event takes place on scenic Governors Island, a 20 minute ferry boat ride from Manhattan. Oh, and did I mention it’s performed entirely in Italian? So if you’re a fan of Russian political rhetoric, ferry boat rides, or just some great theatre, this towering theatrical achievement is not to be missed.
