Technical Problems Delay Rush to Healthcare Enrollment

The New York Times reports that the Oct. 1st enrollment process for affordable healthcare has not been an easy one. Several technical problems arose as millions of Americans, and more than were expected, rushed to enroll. The government claims that they had been prepared for the massive influx of Americans trying to sign up and had run several tests, but glitches in the system remained, including error messages and difficulty creating online accounts. Proponents of the law claim that these facts only manifest the popularity of the law and the high demand for health care provisions. They urge the public to remain patient and that this was only “Day 1 of a marathon.”
