The Sukkah City 2010 Competition came to Union Square in New York City to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, a 7-day celebration of the new harvest.

Architects and designers from all over the world entered their sukkah designs, which conformed to biblical requirements and NYC building restrictions, and 12 finalists were selected to showcase their creations in Union Square. Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the winner, as chosen by the public.

The winning sukkah was “Fractured Bubble” by Henry Grossman and Babak Bryan and will remain standing in Union Square for the duration of the holiday.
