Study Finds Transgender Kids Have Full Understanding of Gender

According to Reuters, a study to be published in Psychological Science reports that transgender children identify with their genders just as much as non-transgender children, and they are not confused or delayed in their understanding of genders. The researchers asked 32 transgender children ages five to 12 various questions known to be measures of implicit gender identity. They found that, for both males and females, the responses of transgender children mirrored those of cisgender children. This study lends credence to the fact that being transgender is not something created or made up by the patient for attention, rather it is a person genuinely seeking an authentic sense of self and individuality.
