In a remarkable feat, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital has successfully transplanted a heart inside a baby born seven weeks premature with an abnormally large and weak heart., CBS News reports. At birth, the baby required a breathing tube almost immediately, and by some miracle, kept on fighting and was placed on a waiting list for a heart transplant, without which his chances for survival were near zero. A perfectly matched donor heart was found almost immediately, and the baby was given a second chance. Oliver is possibly the youngest person to ever receive a heart transplant, and should be recovered and out of the hospital pretty soon. He is now two months old, and is expected to live a fairly normal life.
