William Qubty, M.D. Pediatric Neurologist, UCSF, elaborates on the tremendous need for headache providers and care specialists in the US. Apparently, there is very little funding from the NIH for migraines, in fact, less than 0.1% of their budget is devoted to migraines. Currently, there are no treatments available to address the cause of migraines, only ones that suppress the symptoms. This led to the formation of the organization Miles for Migraine. Miles for Migraine is a group that raises funding for improving treatment and finding better ways to help people with migraines.
