Robotic Glove May Help Stroke Survivors Regain Hand Control

According to an article in Reuters Health, a collaboration between researchers in Britain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands has yielded a device that helps “facilitate repetitive movement and exercise of the hand and wrist of patients.” The device is known as SCRIPT, an acronym for Supervised Care and Rehabilitation Involving Personal Tele-robotics, and holds promise for helping stroke survivors regain lost movement of the hands. The device may prove better than traditional therapies used to counteract the “semi-permanent clenched posture” of the hand and wrist associated with some post-stroke symptoms.
