New Preventative Therapies May Help Prevent ACL Tears in Young Athletes

Reuters reports on new interventional training that may help young athletes, especially girls, avoid ACL tears. The finding is based on a report in Pediatrics that cited several studies including one that found “training was tied to a 72 percent reduced risk of ACL injuries among female athletes younger than 18 years old.” The report also states that there is not sufficient evidence to support bracing as a preventative measure. “Programs that also include strength training have been among the most successful in reducing ACL injury rates, they add.”
