New Diabetes Drug Proves Safe for Use in Children, Study Says

Tresiba, Novo Nordisk‘s new insulin has been shown to be both safe and effective for use in children and young adults with type 1 diabetes, Reuters article says. According to a recent trial, children ages 1 to 18 years showed improvement in blood sugar control over the course of a year, without adverse effects on sugar levels. Currently, there are about 382 million diabetes patients worldwide, roughly 10 percent of which are type 1.
