New Blood Test For Predicting Alzheimer’s

Predicting Alzheimer’s with a blood test may soon be a possibility, Reuters article reports. British scientists have successfully identified a series of proteins in the blood that may enable detection of the degenerative disease through a simple blood test. According to the article, Alzheimer’s costs the world $604 billion per year, affecting 44 million people globally, with forecasts for further growth in the coming decades. Currently, the tests show that the accuracy rate of this predictor is only at 87 percent, and further research will be conducted in the hopes of a more precise method.
