More Danger than Benefit in Adult Breast Milk Consumption

A report from CBS News has noted that online purchase of breast milk for adults lacks the health benefits advertised and poses more risks than supposed benefits according to recent studies. The American Pregnancy Association explained that breast milk has nutritional components designed for infants that adults cannot digest in the same manner. Also, milk purchased online may easily contain drugs or alcohol consumed by the mother. Furthermore, mothers with diseases such as HIV or syphilis can pass on these diseases easily through breast milk. Another study found in one set of samples of online purchased breast milk that at least ten percent of the samples were mixed with cow’s milk. The authors of these studies are calling on health officials to clarify the safety concerns and risks associated with the milk which are much more reliably proven than claims that breast milk consumption can cure cancer.
