How Much Would You Pay To Save Your Life?

More than 98,000 Americans are waiting for a kidney donation, but without enough organ donors, many of these people will not receive one in time. Time explains that last year, 4,500 people died waiting for a kidney. However, a new study found that “Paying organ donors $10,000 per kidney would lower recipients’ medical bills and save lives, since the price is often lower than the cost of years of dialysis and paying donors would increase the number of available organs.” But while a survey conducted in Canada found that “70% of people were okay with compensation for organ donation”, only 25% of doctors agreed.
