According to CBS News, a study published in the European Heart Journal highlights the health benefits of one alcoholic drink per day. After analyzing 14,629 adults, it was found that drinking up to seven alcoholic beverages every week can help reduce the risk for heart failure by 20 percent in males and 16 percent in females. The results indicate that alcohol in moderation may offer protection against certain conditions, but excessive alcohol consumption is still dangerous. After approximately 25 years of observation, 2,508 people had developed heart failure. Researchers found the lowest incidence of heart failure among the group of volunteers who consumed seven drinks per week. The benefits of the daily imbibing were also found to be slightly stronger for men than for women.
