Genetics May Play a Role in How You Sleep

If you have trouble sleeping, your genetics may be to blame, CBS News says. A recent study indicates that genetic variations may affect when and how much you sleep. The study, which looked at over 50,000 participants’ sleep habits, identified a pair of genetic variations connected to sleep duration. The study found that one of the gene variations was found in individuals who slept longer and had lowers levels of ADHD and blood sugar, while the other identifiable DNA was linked to shorter sleep and psychiatric problems such as an increased risk for depression and schizophrenia.
