Fetal Alcohol Disorder Impairs Motor Skills in Children

Children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder are more likely to have problems with balance, coordination, and ball skills, an article published by Reuters says. A study published in Pediatrics observed children under the age of 18 affected by the condition, and found that children with FASD were three times more likely to have impaired motor skills than children who had not suffered from prenatal alcohol exposure. For mothers, “the safest option is to avoid alcohol,” according to the lead of the study, Barbara Lucas.
