Eating Walnuts Every Day May Help Improve Cognitive Health

According to CBS News, new research published in the Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging suggests that eating a few walnuts every day can help improve memory, concentration and information processing speed. In the study, consisting of a large and diverse sampling of the US population aged 20 and up, researchers found that those who ate more walnuts showed higher performance in a series of six cognitive tests. Walnuts are high in antioxidants as well as a myriad of vitamins and minerals, Which may contribute to the health benefits associated with the nuts. They also contain high amounts of alpha-linolenic acid, a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid, known to benefit both heart and brain health.
