The daily, regimented ritual of giving alms to the monks in Luang Prabang, Laos is a culturally and visually striking event that is not to be missed. Hundreds of monks parade past alms givers, receiving food for their single daily meal.

Tourists are welcome to kneel beside locals, bearing gifts of sticky rice and fruit, to give to the monks as they file past. The event is a unique glimpse into a world where traditional tenets Buddhism are still adhered to by most of the population in their day to day life.
