Biden Announces $100 Million in Funds To Address Mental Health

The Washington Post reports that Vice President Biden described the treatment available to Americans for mental health problems as “unacceptable.” To address this disparity, Biden announced “$100 million in new federal funds to expand community-based services and treatment centers.” Half of the money will be given to centers trying to expand treatment for people with mental illness and addiction problems, and the other half will be made available in loans for “rural clinics looking to expand facilities, a way of alleviating a shortage of mental health care outside urban areas.”
