4.5 Million Patient Files Stolen in Hack of Community Health Systems Inc.

According to an article published by Bloomberg News, Chinese hackers have stolen 4.5 million names, addresses, and social security numbers from the second largest for-profit hospital chain in the U.S., Community Health Systems Inc. though, no medical information was obtained. However, security experts have remarked that the information stolen was not encrypted, showing that the company could have safeguarded its data better. Furthermore, the Chinese embassy in Washington reports no knowledge of the cyber attack and suggests that the accusations are “groundless”.
