In 1982, engineer and biophysicist Hugh Herr lost both of his legs to frost bite. Since then, Herr has had a vision for a world without disability, which he is bringing to life through the BiOM, a device which enables amputees to not only walk again, but to perform even more effectively than biological limbs. Herr’s BiOM artificial ankles are battery-powered, enabling its users to achieve greater levels of power and stability.
