Vitamin B Supplements May Reduce the Risk of Stroke

Taking vitamin B supplements may reduce your risk of stroke, CBS News reports. The finding was based on a study in Neurology in which 54,913 participants were followed for at least 6 months, during which time they took vitamin B supplements or a placebo. Overall, the risk of stroke for those taking the vitamin B supplements was 7% less than those taking placebos. Researchers also found that folic acid had an adverse effect on supplements and that vitamin B12 showed no beneficial effect, suggesting that other factors, such as bodily absorption, are important in the prevention of stroke.
