Viagra and Cialis May Be Potential Treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

An article in BBC News reports that US scientists believe “Viagra and Cialis, normally used for treating male impotence, could be used to fight a muscle-wasting disorder which affects boys.” In a study, boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) were given a single dose of either Viagra or Cialis. Scientists found that the drugs improved blood flow to the muscles of boys, restoring them to a healthy level, and experts believe the effect could slow the onset of the disease.
