Trans Fat Consumption May Cause Memory Loss

In light of the FDA’s recent ban on trans fats, new research has found a correlation between memory loss and a diet full of trans fats, according to CBS News. In a study of 1000 men and women, each gram of trans fat consumed was associated with a ten to twenty percent decrease in the word recall memory test. Researchers proposed that inflammation and hormone interference caused by trans fats might explain the negative effect trans fats have on memory. While these results do not prove a direct link they suggest a strong association of further evidence against trans fat consumption.
