The Freedom Trail is a red (mostly brick) path through downtown Boston, MA which leads to sixteen significant historic sites. It is a 2.5 mile (4 km) walk from the Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown and is popular with tourists. Part of the Freedom Trail overlaps with the much longer Boston Harbor Walk. Many of the Freedom Trail’s 16 sites are known worldwide for the important role they played in the American Revolution. There is no other place in the US where you can take in the rich history of America’s Revolution — the events that lead up to the historic break from Britain and the brave people who shaped our national government.
