Most weight loss programs are rather intensive during the initial weeks of treatment. They can also be costly and require a huge time commitment. An alternative treatment is the stepped-care approach. This involves a lower-intensity intervention that only increases if a person’s weight loss goals are not met. A new study examines if the stepped-care approach is as effective as conventional weight loss treatments. Catherine Dolf has more in this week’s JAMA Report.
