Smoking Pot Daily May Not Cause Brain Shrinkage

As marijuana becomes legal in more states, and the US experiences an large uptick in the amount of users, pot smokers may have one less thing to worry about. According to Reuters, a study published in the Journal of Neuroscience has found that daily marijuana use is not associated with brain shrinkage. The researchers recruited dozens of volunteers and conducted brain imaging tests on them, comparing daily marijuana smokers to non-smokers, and adjusting for alcohol consumption. There was no difference found in the volumes of the accumbens, amygdala, hippocampus or cerebellum between daily users, non-users, adults, or adolescents.
