Sexual Problems Effect Women After Birth, Regardless of Delivery Method

According to Reuters, a new study published in the International Journal of Impotence Research suggests that while many women experience reduced sex drive after giving birth, their delivery method is not at fault. Going through pregnancy and delivery can result in physical changes which can cause difficulty having an orgasm, lower sex drive, and pain during intercourse. Study subjects who delivered vaginally were found to experience less desire, arousal and lubrication than those who delivered via C-section, though the risk of these issues was the same for both methods. One nurse practitioner recommended other methods of intimacy after birth as a therapeutic way for the new parents to ease their way back into sexual intercourse.
