CBS News reports on new research in Science Translational Magazine that has shown that “a laser may be the only instrument your dentist will need to repair your teeth in the future.” Researchers have discovered that using a non-ionizing low power laser (LPL) may stimulate transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1) to trigger dentin formation through stem cells. The findings were based on a rat model but researchers say the next step is to “begin clinical trials on humans.”
