Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
- Explain the concept of patients’ backsliding (aversive reactions) and why it represents a positive sign in terms of patients’ efforts to make healthy lifestyle changes for themselves and for their children.
- Explain backsliding (aversive reactions) to patients, and then help patients sustain their motivation and continue to progress after they backslide.
- Initiate a conversation with adult patients who are parents/caregivers, discuss the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, and convey the basics of “loving regulation” – a new and effective approach to helping children achieve the long-term goal of valuing their health and taking good care of their bodies.

Method of Participation
To receive credit, the participant should view the video in its entirety and evaluate the content presented. The participant must complete the evaluation and get at least 5 out of 7 of the post-test questions correct.
Estimated Time to Complete
The video is approximately 12 minutes long. Participants will complete the CME Evaluation, Participation Record, and Post-Test. The estimated time to complete is 15 minutes or .25 credit.
